Our friendly staff at Canine Acres goes out of their way to make each pet feel like part of our family. Our experienced staff are people who not only love animals, but are also proficient in working with a wide variety of breeds, behaviors, and medical needs. Canine Acres is proud to say we are not a breed-restrictive facility. Our staff has experience working with geriatrics. or special needs, and puppies.
 
Our goal is to create an environment where you and your pets can come to relax and enjoy the beautiful countryside. You are always welcome to bring your pet out and walk around our facility or relax in our upstairs lobby where you can enjoy a hot cup of coffee or soda. We are here for you!

Hope has worked as the Supervising Manager of Canine Acres since 2008, and has been involved with dogs and training her entire life. She has enjoyed taking many dogs through novice obedience training as well as certifying two dogs as therapy animals and volinteering in nursing homes and schools. Hope graduated from high school near Fergus Falls and then attended a two-year bible college program at her church. Currently, Hope and her husband Seth live on a hobby farm outside of Fergus Falls where they enjoy the beauty of nature and all that comes with country living. Along with spending time outdoors some of Hope’s hobbies are spending time with family and friends as well as helping with her church’s college program and other church activities. Hope currently enjoys her Rough Collie “Daniel”, cat “Elsie”, three Alpacas “Dutchess”, “Coco”, and “Sammy”, and several Peafowl.

Amy Sund is a Fergus Falls native. She has worked as an LPN for 11 years. To pursue her love of animals she worked at the Humane Society part time for six years before she started working at Canine Acres in the summer of 2012. Amy is in her third year of Pre-Vet classes at the U of M in Morris. Amy has a sweet Weimaraner "Scarlett" who loves to come to Canine Acres and "babysit" our daycare guests. Amy enjoys spending time with family and friends and being outdoors.

Katelyn grew up in the Fergus Falls area always being surrounded by animals. She cared for a variety of critters while enjoying reading and learning of them. She finished high school in Fergus & pursued further education in the F/M area. In the summer of 2008, she started working at Petco. After a couple of years attending school and working at Petco, she decided to invest all of her time to become a pet stylist. She loved the animals and people she developed relationships with there. In the summer of 2017, she decided to move back to the Fergus area and started at Canine Acres. When she's not working, she enjoys reading, art, music, traveling, watching movies and spending time with family and friends.

Jackie has lived in Fergus Falls all of her life. She and her husband Randy have a beautiful country home where she spends time outside in her garden and enjoys time with her family. They also raise cattle and have a beautiful one-year-old Shiloh Shepherd named Koda. Jackie started working at Canine Acres in August of 2013 after many years of working in retail.

Lakia is currently a freshman in accounting at M State in Fergus Falls. She doesn't currently own any dogs but hopes to in the near future. Besides grooming, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, being involved in church activities, sports, being outdoors, reading, and also has a love for art.

 Amanda is a groomer at Canine Acres and has been with us since the summer of 2016. She is a 2012 graduate of Wadena-Deer Creek Hight School and grew up in the country where she also spent a lot of time on her Grandmother's farm. This is where her love for animals developed. Amanda attended a grooming school in Anoka, MN called Pucci Pet Career Studios where she enjoyed the great teachers and staff. Amanda also enjoys spending time with family and friends. 


 
Sam Jorud

Sam has lived her life around animals from cats and dogs to managing the dairy business on the Jorud family farm. While managing the herd, she also earned her Associate of Arts degree from MSTATE in Fergus Falls. Although the cows are no longer part of the Jorud farming operation, Sam continues to enjoy living in the country on the century farm where she remains in close contact with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. In addition to farming, Sam worked part-time at Eagle Lake Pet Boarding until the owner moved. Recently, Sam adopted Dozer, a beagle/boxer cross in need of rescue at 4 weeks old. In addition to her love of dogs, Sam also enjoys going to Derby’s and movies with friends and spending time with her family.

Nikki is a senior at Breckenridge High School and is interested in pursuing a Vet Tech degree in the future. She has a 1-year-old Maltese-Shih Tzu named Jax and a Quarter/Appaloosa Horse named Norman. She began working at Canine Acres in July of 2016. In her free time, she enjoys competing at horse shows and spending time with friends.

Alise is a Fergus Falls native and is in her senior year at Kennedy Secondary School this year. Alise is the oldest of two girls in my family and has a yellow lab named Ellie and a kitten named Willow. Alise dances at the Edge Dance and Performing Arts and has been dancing since the age of 3. She has also been on the Edge competition team 'Edge Force Dance Company' for 3 years. Alise enjoys working at Canine Acres and taking care of such great animals.

Lydia is the youngest daughter of the Permann family and has been busy helping at Canine Acres since it opened. She is currently in 10th grade and enjoys spending time with her own animals including her dog Rueben. She also enjoys spending time with family, friends and attending youth group activities.
